Briars Group CEO Kate Jolly is no stranger to the world of entrepreneurial enterprise. As co-founder of the Company, she is an entrepreneur herself. Briars offers extensive services to entrepreneurial businesses of all sizes, across many countries.
Speaking on behalf of the Guild of Entrepreneurs, of which she is Middle Warden, at the Ideas for Action conference in Belgrade, Serbia, Kate said: “It’s difficult to overstate the importance and value of entrepreneurship to a successful economy. A vibrant entrepreneurial ecosystem generates income and taxes, helps extend the values, tradition and heritage of a country beyond its borders, and provides jobs and opportunity to local people.”
The conference, assembled by Network for Business Development in association with the British-Serbian Chamber of Commerce and the Serbian Chamber of Commerce, brought together the cream of Serbian enterprise with Ministers from its new Government, the Mayor of Belgrade, the World Bank and Wharton Business School. On the agenda was entrepreneurship investment and leadership with the aim of encouraging young professionals and students to develop new ideas for financing and implementation of Sustainable Development Goals.
Jolly also spoke about extending the business relationships of two countries with a proud entrepreneurial heritage – likening the zeal and creativity of London and Belgrade in particular: “Belgrade and indeed all of Serbia is well known for having an entrepreneurial culture with such international icons as Nikola Tesla, and will benefit from a positive, far-sighted, collaborative approach to policy that capitalises on the undoubted talent, resources, relationships and opportunities being discussed today.”
