In order to raise money for our corporate charity The Dan Eley Foundation, Briars have managed to once again put together a team for the local fun run.elstead marathon

Elstead is a small village about 5 miles from Godalming in Surrey and every year they host the Elstead Marathon. whilst it is called a ‘Marathon’ the distance doesn’t quite stretch to the official length, however 5.6 miles seemed more than long enough for our team.

The race is sponsored by local businesses and is well attended with around 500 runners competing in the adult race. The course starts in the centre of the village and winds its way through the forest and countryside before emerging at the River Wey, which the runners must then wade, swim and muddle through before a short uphill dash to the finish line.

This year Briars fielded 6 runners, Tim Rabson, James Breheny, Michala Warren, Deborah Simpson, Laura Quick and Reuben Bhattacharya representing most of the departments at Briars.

Of the runners who graciously gave up their Friday evening, all finished within an hour and special mention must go to Tim Rabson who completed the race after only recently taking up running. Big congratulations to him!

Our newly recruited tax graduate, James Breheny, showed that he is quite the runner and finished in a very respectable 44 minutes.

Reuben achieved his goal in completing the race in less than 50 minutes followed shortly by Debs, Laura, Michala and Tim.

A big congratulations to our team for completing the Elstead Marathon and to everyone who sponsored them to run for The Dan Eley Foundation.
